Sanele Vox

August 12,  The Silver Room hosted the official release party for Sanele Vox, a fresh-blooded, heart-stopping writer, jazz vocalist, and mixed media artist from Chicago. Sanele read from her second chapbook, This Side of Mourning which is a provocative series of dialogue poems that juxtapose Rihanna & Chris Brown's abusive relationship with that of Tina and Ike Turner's similarly perilous relationship. Along with her chapbook, Sanele Vox debuted her mixed media series Akimbo which was warmly preceded by other astonishing, distinguished poets such as Avery R. Young, Roger Bonair-Agard, Kristiana Colón, Krista Franklin and more who also read at the event. Sanele released her first chapbook of poetry Talk Over the Sound, in January of 2009.
